Summary

TeenPact Leadership School equips young people to impact the nation and world for Jesus Christ while it challenges them to grow both personally and spiritually.  The first step of TeenPact’s comprehensive leadership training begins with a week-long, hands-on session in political science from a biblical perspective held at the student’s own state capitol. After completing this experience, the student is eligible for a plethora of other leadership training events all aimed at accomplishing the ministry’s goal of “changing lives to change the world.”

Purpose [ Back to top ]

The future of America depends on developing Christian young people into strong, godly leaders. TeenPact inspires young people to aspire to leadership by understanding the political process, valuing their liberty, defending and applying their Christian faith, developing new skills, and engaging the culture. TeenPact has had proven success in facilitating the transformation of students from being apathetic to being engaged through its peer-leadership methodology. TeenPact produces young people who are enthusiastic, biblically minded and equipped to lead the family, the church, the nation, and the world.

Changing Lives to Change the World

Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]

Since its inception in 1994, TeenPact has grown from a single-city ministry to one that offers classes in 38 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. Training more than 21,000 students, the TeenPact family is expanding to partner with other ministries and leadership organizations that share a common vision for empowering and educating America’s youth.   Some of these include Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, Alliance Defense Fund, The Institute for Cultural Communicators and Generation Joshua.

TeenPact continues to remain current and relevant by reviewing curriculum in light of contemporary needs.   In addition to state capitol classes, TeenPact offers advanced training opportunities for our alumni.   These include:

  • Public Speaking - to equip even the most timid of speakers in this vital leadership skill.
  • Media Academy - “hands-on” training in journalism and film production.
  • Judicial - intensive moot court and law experience.
  • Congress - “hands-on” mock legislature presenting a deeper insight into the congressional process.
  • Challenge - military-style camp equipping young men in servant leadership and godly courage.
  • Endeavor - casting a vision for young women to live a life characterized by courageous femininity and adventurous beauty.
  • Survival - team building for survival in the great outdoors with applications for thriving as Christians amidst the current culture.
  • Back to DC - fast-paced look at national politics, campaign technology, and American history.
TeenPact graduates are using their TeenPact experience in a variety of fascinating roles, such as:
  • Chief of Staff for a state governor;
  • Director of Development for a state public policy council;
  • Crisis Pregnancy Center volunteer
  • Foreign and domestic missionaries;
  • Grassroots involvement and leadership roles in political organizations and campaigns throughout the United States;
  • Homemakers training up godly children; and
  • Senior producer for a nationally syndicated talk radio show

Most importantly, TeenPact continues to promote biblical principles of family, government, leadership, accountability, and responsibility in order to develop students, serve society, and glorify God.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

TeenPact Leadership School uses the following to express its Statement of Faith:

1. The Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and practice;

2. In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;

3. That Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Furthermore, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God the Father. He is now our High Priest and Advocate;

4. That the ministry of the Holy Spirit which glorifies Jesus Christ, by convicting of sin, regenerating the believing sinner, indwelling, guiding, instructing and empowering the believer for Godly living and service;

5. That man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained;

6. That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God;

7. That water baptism and the Lord’s supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation;

8. That the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is the Head;

9. In the personal and second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ;

10. In the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

History [ Back to top ]

Founder Tim Echols was inspired with the idea for TeenPact while attending a prayer meeting in the basement of the Georgia Capitol in the winter of 1993. When he and several pastors in attendance named the concept “TeenPact,” Tim began to put together the curriculum—most of which is still used today. The name “TeenPact” came from the idea of “teens making an impact.” The idea of using student staff members came from Tim’s high school days where he worked at a student council camp. While in college, Tim served at the Baptist Student Union where he sent student teams across the state of Georgia to minister.   Both experiences helped Tim shape TeenPact into the “youth-led” organization it is today. The first TeenPact class began with a group of 18 students who traveled to Atlanta from all around the state for the week long experience. Since that first class in 1994, over 21,000 youth have participated in TeenPact classes nationwide.

Sixteen years later, TeenPact is still inspiring students to care about founding principles, civic duty, Christian worldview and personal involvement in reaching the culture for Jesus Christ. While the target group of the ministry is primarily young people, aged 8-18 and their families, a notable ripple effect accomplished through alumni students allows TeenPact to minister to millions of Christian families in America who are concerned with preparing the next generation for leadership.

Ministry Needs [ Back to top ]

TeenPact has a presence in 38 states and counting, including Alaska and Hawaii.   In order to operate current classes and provide for expansion, TeenPact requires an army of volunteers to assist the full-time office team. Each person-volunteer-employee spends time and energy not only supporting and serving the ministry, but also investing in a generation of young people who are called to impact the culture for Christ.

The ministry has completely relied on God’s provision through outside support from friends, alumni, corporations, and foundations.  The financial needs are many with the greatest need being additional office staff to assist with operations.  Other needs include scholarships, lodging, and meals for students; both temporary and permanent vehicles for transportation, funding for additional staff training; and a permanent, national training facility.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
