Purpose [ Back to top ]

Sonlife Ministries ("Sonlife") was established to fulfill the Great Commission by using a biblical strategy of evangelism and discipleship to train and mobilize the leadership in local churches. Sonlife accomplishes these goals through church and student leadership and discipleship training seminars. Sonlife calls these seminars Strategy, Advanced, Growing Healthy Church (GHC), and Student Evangelism Missions Project (SEMP). Video and product resources, consulting services, educational ministries, and written materials are also used to accomplish their goals. In addition, through an agreement with International Teams and OCSC, Sonlife provides leadership training to pastors involved in overseas youth ministry.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

Sonlife uses the following to communicate its faith:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

History [ Back to top ]

Sonlife is a non-profit Christian Ministry whose mission is calling emerging leaders to encounter Christ's person, express His passion, and extend His global mission through His church. Sonlife was born from this God-given vision in 1979. For the first decade, Moody Bible Institute provided the base for Sonlife to field test training and to build model ministries within the Midwest.

The first several years, founder and Executive Director Dr. Dann Spader concentrated his efforts upon equipping youth leaders in the Chicago area. Dann spent extensive hours training and coaching these youth leaders in the character and priorities of Christ. God used this to transform their lives and ministries resulting in a core of passionate young leaders committed to doing ministry the way Jesus did.

As God moved these leaders to other parts of the country, local churches throughout the U.S. were experiencing the fruit of youth ministries committed to disciplemaking. By 1985 Sonlife began accepting invitations to equip leaders across North America, and by 1990 over 20,000 leaders per year were experiencing face to face training.

In 1993 it was evident that Sonlife needed to respond to the requests from denominations to help equip their church leaders, such as Elders and Senior Pastors. At this time Sonlife launched a church leadership track.

In 1995 Sonlife moved to global multiplication of leaders, and by 1999 our overseas partners, together with our North American team, provided training for leaders in 47 countries. Also, in 1998 we began to mobilize women in strategic disciplemaking ministries in North America and since then over 4900 women have been trained.

And now here we are in the new millennium with over 60,000 leaders, in 72 countries who are encountering Christ's person, as we continue to train thousands of leaders annually.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
