Purpose [ Back to top ]

SEND International ("SEND") strives to evangelize unreached people in all areas of the world through evangelism, church planting and development, Christian education and training of nationals, as well as other ministries such as medical, publications, and radio. In light of the urgency of the hour and the looseness of men, we are committed to a life of obedience to Jesus Christ to proclaim the Gospel and establish His church. SEND is organized as an interdenominational faith mission. SEND has over 450 missionaries in more than 20 countries of Asia, Europe and North America.

This organization is a nonprofit. Contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Mission Statement [ Back to top ]

SEND International’s mission is to mobilize God’s people and engage the unreached in order to establish reproducing churches.

Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]

SEND began work in Alaska in 1936 as Central Alaska Mission. Since that time, churches have been established in rural Alaska and the Yukon Territory, hundreds of students have been trainined and graduated with accredited degrees from Alaska Bible College, thousands have heard the gospel over the airwaves of radio stations KCAM and KRSA, and the gospel witness and testimony has been preached from southwest Alaska as far east as Fort McPherson in Canada's Northwest Territory. Today the focus of SEND's ministry in the Far North is the establishment of churches in small, unreached villages off the road system in Alaska and in remote unreached communities in the Yukon and Northwest Territories.

By God's grace, SEND has had the privilege of serving the evangelical churches in Eurasia (Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan) for almost  20 years. Our goal is to see a healthy, reproducing church within reach of every person in the former Soviet Union. Our approach is to ask national church leaders what God has called them to do, and how we can help them accomplish it. Although we have assisted them in many different ways (evangelism and church-planting efforts, strengthening existing churches through various ministries, helping build or purchase church facilities), perhaps our most strategic contribution has been the training of many hundreds of national church leaders and missionaries. Additionally, we are helping Russian believers learn how to reach cross-culturally to two different unreached people groups and are working hard at facilitating the sending of Ukrainian missionaries to other countries in the former Soviet Union.

SEND Europe has started NGOs (non-governmental organizations in Spain and in Macedonia. These work in the areas of micro-business, medical supply and social helps. The goal is to establish reproducing churches using these non-profits as a tool. These new NGOs have built playgrounds for schools, started English classes in Spain, and set up medical and business seminars in Skopje, MK. In addition, we started a English school in Prague, Czech Republic as part of a new church plant with our Czech partner. We are currently raising funds for the New Hope Church in Skopje, SEND's first and oldest church plant in Macedonia. We have a camp in Kosovo and another in Croatia that serve hundreds of children - churched and unchurched. We also run a camp for MKs every summer.

We thank God for His gracious working to see the Filipino Church now embracing the challenge of church-planting movements among people with other religious backgrounds, enabling SEND workers to concentrate on serving among the unreached M people and on mobilizing Filipino co-workers for the global harvest.

We also praise the Lord that Filipino workers are preparing to spearhead a new team outreach to an unreached people group in SE China later in 2010. We are currently praying for additional team members to strengthen this team approach.

In Japan, over 3,500 campers, mostly youths, hear the gospel at Okutama Bible Chalet (OBC) each year! OBC's "Next Generation for Christ" project is close to reaching the amount needed for a matching grant to be paid. This will significantly advance the effort to raise the necessary funds for construction of essential facilities at OBC, a ministry vital to the church-planting efforts in Japan.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

SEND International's Statement of Faith is:

WE BELIEVE;

  • In the plenary and verbal inspiration and inerrancy of the Bible as originally given; that it is the only infallible Word of God, and the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct;
  • That there is only one true God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
  • In Jesus Christ, God the Son, the world’s only Savior; in His preincarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial, bodily resurrection, and in His personal, visible return to reign on earth for a thousand years;
  • In God, the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates, indwells and empowers the believer;
  • That all people are sinful and lost and can be saved only by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ;
  • In the resurrection of the dead, the believer to life everlasting, and the unbeliever to eternal condemnation;
  • That the church is the body of Jesus Christ, for which He will return, consisting of all who have accepted the redemption provided by Him;
  • That the presence of Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit in the believer will result in a life of holiness and a walk of obedience to the will of God.

History [ Back to top ]

SEND International began as Far Eastern Gospel Crusade (FEGC) shortly after World War II by a group of men and women who returned from military service burdened for the spiritual needs of Asia.

The early years of FEGC were marked by rapid growth and expansion into new areas. In 1971, Central Alaskan Mission, with its multi-faced ministries in Alaska, merged with FEGC. In 1981, FEGC became SEND International to better represent the geographic scope of the mission. In 1984, Spain opened up as the next country. At the end of the cold war in the early 1990s, SEND expanded into Central and Eastern Europe. Today, there are approximately 600 SEND missionaries serving in more than twenty countries of Europe, Asia, and North America.

Ministry Needs [ Back to top ]

SEND International communicates the following needs: Funding for their Priority Project as well as many country projects are needed. More information is available on the website www.send.org.

SEND International needs long-term, short-term, and summer missionaries. SEND is an interdenominational agency including more than 600 members from a wide variety of backgrounds. All SEND missionaries meet educational and ministry experience requirements and are involved in training programs prior to ministry.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
