Summary
Pioneer Bible Translators' desire is to work with Jesus Christ in discipling the nations. They believe that enabling people to hear and read God's Word in their own language is an essential part of discipleship. To this end they work to translate the Bible into languages into which it has not yet been translated.

PBT wants to reach: (1) The Bibleless people, and (2) the Unreached people that have not heard of Jesus Christ. PBT the "Unreached" as those where there is a 0% to 5% Christian population; a church does not exist within their own culture; there is little or no missionary presence; there is no access to Scripture in their own language. That leaves 2.2 billion people among 1739 people groups. PBT currently has over 100 missionaries serving in the following different capacities: Translators, Literacy Workers, Computer Services, Medical Workers, Engineers, Administration, Bookkeepers, MK Teachers, Printers, and many more. They have entered and worked in 27 different language groups around the world.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]
Pioneer Bible Translators' Statement of Faith is:
Pioneer Bible Translators accepts Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. He is the only begotten Son of God who died on the cross for the salvation of all mankind. God raised Him from the dead and this is our assurance of salvation.
All that Pioneer Bible Translators does is done under the sovereign Lordship of Christ and with the intention of making Him Savior and Lord over all the world.
God has offered to every person everywhere the forgiveness of sins, the Spirit of God, and the inheritance yet to come on the basis of what Christ has done to save us.
In order to receive this gift of grace, God summons everyone to faith in Christ, repentance from sin, confession of Jesus as Lord, and on that basis, immersion into Christ.
We accept the Bible as being the Word of God. We regard the Bible as our authority in matters of religion and as the basis of all our faith and practice. True knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ comes to us through the Word of God.
Pioneer Bible Translators recognizes that Jesus Christ created the Church, and that it is made up of all those who have obeyed the Gospel and belong to Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church.
The nature of the Church as a people of God is determined by the Holy Spirit, whose presence within it gives the Church it's life and power.
The mission of the Church is to bring the message of salvation through Christ to all mankind, and summon them to obedience to Him as Savior and Lord.
Pioneer Bible Translators was founded by Al Hamilton in 1976. He served as its first President. The first Pioneer Mission Institute was held on the Campus of Lincoln Christian College in 1976. In 1977 the first missionaries were sent out to Papua New Guinea. In 1980 PBT's sent its first missionary family to Zaire. In subsequent years missions have been opened in Guinea, West Africa, in Equatorial Guinea, Canada, Tanzania, and the Ukraine. PBT participation in the translation of the Bible into the local languages has serve to facilitate the spread of the Gospel in these areas.

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
