Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

Open Door uses the following to express its Statement of Faith:

We believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell, the third day rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from where He will come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy Christian Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.

History [ Back to top ]

During the summer of 1955, a young Dutchman, Andrew, traveled to Warsaw, Poland with Christian literature hidden in his suitcase. Polish believers were in great need of God’s Word and encouragement. While watching a parade of communist youth march by with their drums and banners, the pages of his Bible blew open to Revelation 3:2. He looked down and he read "Wake up!" The words leapt from the page. "Strengthen what remains and is about to die."

Since that day, Open Doors (OPEN) couriers have risked their freedom and their lives to distribute millions of Bibles and other Christian materials to persecuted Christians throughout the former Soviet Union, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. And Open Doors teachers have crossed hostile borders to train thousands of new leaders to serve the Suffering Church.

Ministry Needs [ Back to top ]

Open Doors express needs as follows:

Prayer is one of the most important things that can be done and Open Doors gives a list of specific prayers one can lift up.

Donations are needed to send Christian literature and Bibles to new believers for training and encouragement.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
