Mount Hermon's properties are in some of the most beautiful places on earth! Our original site, nestled in the towering Santa Cruz mountain redwoods, is just six miles from Monterey Bay. The Whisper Canyon locale is a rustic retreat near Paso Robles and Lake San Antonio.

In Santa Cruz, there are three self-contained camp and conference facilities: Ponderosa Lodge, Redwood Camp and the main Conference Center. Summer at Ponderosa Lodge are geared for junior high and senior high students; Redwood Camp's full summer schedule delights elementary and primary school-aged kids; our Conference Center summers provide a Christian resort camping experience designed for every member of the family.

At Kidder Creek we offer a broad array of traditional, adventure and horse riding camps for youth of all ages. The wilderness programs engage in whitewater rafting, rock climbing, cliff jumping and much, much more!

Throughout the remainder of the year, each facility operates Mount Hermon-sponsored camps and conferences, as well as hosting programs provided by guest groups who support our ministry objectives.

Purpose [ Back to top ]

Mount Hermon is dedicated to serving Jesus Christ by providing specialized camp and conference ministries. These ministries aim to share the Gospel and to encourage and nurture believers. Mount Hermon calls for the gunuine application of the authoritative Word of God in one's daily decisions and relationships. Mount Hermon seeks to provide a wholesome vacation environment for individuals and families, of all ages, races, and church backgrounds.

Encountering Jesus-Lives Transformed.

Mission Statement [ Back to top ]

Mount Hermon Association uses the following to express its mission:

To proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior, teach the authoritative Word of God, and serve His Church in our nation and throughout the world.

Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]

Christian camping is one of the most effective tools the church has for evangelism, with more than 250,000 people making first-time professions of faith and commitments to follow Jesus each year. Beyond that, Jerry Jenkins reported in the Christian Camp and Conference Center professional magazine in 2007 that more than 500,000 Christian leaders in vocational ministry trace their decision to enter ministry by responding to God's call while at a Christian camp!

Mount Hermon has a long legacy of working closely with our church partners to provide for them programs that they cannot do themselves, supporting their ministry rather than competing with it. Our interdenominational platform enables us to reach out to people across the spectrum of faith, and to be a place where all can bring non-believers to encounter Jesus in a place where they feel welcome.

The array of programs for youth and young adults and familiies are just a glimpse of how we are attracting people to come for the first time, and then come back again and again, each time taking "one step closer to Jesus." For those unfamiliar with faith, that means allowing the beauty of God's natural revelation and the love of our staff to penetrate their hearts, breaking down barriers and misconceptions. For those who have walked with Christ from childhood, it means bridging the gap from adolescence to adult faith with programs to take them deeper and closer in intimacy with Him, teaching skills and developing character that will withstand testing. For those who have been in the faith, this means teaching how to leave and live a legacy of following Jesus.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

1. We believe in the verbal and complete inspiration by God of the original writings of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, the only infallible rule of faith and practice. 2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true Man. 4. We believe the Holy Spirit is God, at work in the world to execute all divine activity and especially to reveal Jesus Christ and to glorify Him. 5. We believe man was created in the image of God and is loved by Him but, through sinful inheritance and choice, is alienated, separated from God and under His righteous judgment. 6. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a substitutionary and complete sacrifice, and that all who repent and believe in Him are justifieid, wholly apart from human merit and works, on the ground of His shed blood and resurrection. 7. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, & in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. 8. We believe in the second, visible and personal coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to establish His worldwide Kingdom on the earth. 9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the eternal blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting separation from God of the unsaved. 10. We believe all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God and members of the body of Christ, the one true Church, whose life is visibly expressed wherever even two or three are gathered together in His name. 11. We believe the Christian life is not a reformation, but a transformation, in which Christ Himself relives His life through the believer's whole being. Such a life will be preeminently characterized by love, truth, and purity. 12. We believe the Church is commissioned to evangelize the world by proclaiming Jesus Christ as Lord, and by living as His servants among men.

History [ Back to top ]

Founded in 1905, Mount Hermon was the first Christian camp west of the Mississippi. We've always been both evangelical and interdenominational, consistently proclaiming Jesus as Lord and Savior, teaching the authoritative Word of God and serving churches and Christian ministries both here and worldwide. Mount Hermon's origins trace to the American evangelist, Dwight L. Moody, whose conference center founded in the east influenced our original program and facilities.

Now over 100 years later, Mount Hermon is still a place of retreat from daily stress and rigors, a place for discovering and renewing one's relationship with Jesus Christ. Our "high" view of the Bible as God's authoritative Word permeates our programs, encouraging an environment where the truths of Scripture can be taught, understood and applied in daily living.

Over our history, Bible teachers participating here have included many of the most highly respected preachers and teachers in the world. By God's goodness and faithfulness, Mount Hermon has grown to be one of the largest-and acclaimed as one of the finest-Christian camp and conference facilities in the world.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
