Summary
Mission India provides training and Scripture materials requested by Indian Christians, for outreach to the nation of India. Currently the organization’s efforts focus tightly on three major programs:
- Church Planting
- Adult Literacy
- Children’s Bible Clubs
Regional training is an important part of Mission India’s work. Their Indian trainers gather groups of volunteers who travel to regional sites to and distribute materials requested by locals who attend. Church Planters are trained on-site by Indian ministry leaders, and the trainees conduct fieldwork in locations chosen by the local ministry leaders.
A primary characteristic of Mission India’s work is accountability. Over the years, the organization has developed detailed and systematic ways of assembling reports from field locations throughout the country. On a quarterly basis, reports are assembled from almost all of India’s states and comprehensive, national figures are published in a President’s Report every fiscal year.
Mission India is a nonprofit. Contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) as well as the Evangelical Alliance.

Mission India's Mission Statement is:
To assist the Indian church in its efforts to plant reproducing churches in a systematic and measurable way through training, prayer, Scripture placement, and ministry partnerships.
Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]
Mission India accomplishments are as follows:
- More than 1.6 million children and parents have become new or renewed disciples as a result of Mission India’s Children’s Bible Clubs. Between 40% and 50% of the children who attend become followers of Jesus.
- Mission India has developed a two-year training program that specializes in screening, enrolling, teaching, supervising, and equipping Church Planting students. During the two years of supervised training, each student starts two new churches. This program has become so popular that hundreds of national Christians are now on waiting lists, eager to be trained.
- More than 30,000 students attend Mission India’s Bible Content Literacy classes throughout India. Approximately 38% of these students become Christians. Students who work diligently two hours a night, five nights a week for fifty-two weeks, can achieve basic literacy at a fifth grade level. Approximately 85% of Mission India’s students achieve this goal
Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]
Mission India's Statement of Faith is:
1.We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error; the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.
2.We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as the sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, and He now is at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
4. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is His work to convict men, regenerate the sinner, and indwell and empower the believer for Godly living and service.
5. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration can salvation and eternal life be obtained.
6. We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God.
7. We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this coming has an important bearing on the personal life of the believer.
8. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the believer to everlasting fellowship and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
Mission India has trained Indian Church Planters since 1985. Approximately 5,000 of them have graduated from a one-year training program and have been placed in 125 districts in India. These 5,000 Church Planters have started more than 85,000 house churches. As the planting of house churches continues, MI is now strengthening the training program by giving Church Planters a two-year training period and setting before them the goal of beginning on large "Reproducing Church" which will be made up of many small cells.
Mission India expresses the following needs:
Currently Mission India is pioneering two new mission ventures, one in prayer and the other in "feeding" new little churches.
Mission India seeks to raise up a prayer voice of one thousand intercessors for everyone of India's 500 some districts or counties in a ministry called Pray India!. M21 seeks congregations to adopt a specific district in India, sponsor an Indian prayer coordinator for that district, and encourage their members to pray daily for that district following a daily prayer guide supplied by Mission India.
The second major project is what we call "Church Farming." It is an attempt to broaden the concept of church planting. Mission India operates a Christian Growth Book Club, which, beginning in 1998, will be distributing a packet of eight books per year (four commentaries and four sermon books) to about 40,000 Christian lay pastors, Bible teachers and Christian leaders in India. This is an historic mission project, rarely attempted by missions which seem to concentrate primarily on church planting. The cost of supplying a packet of these books (which are 150-200 pages each) is only $10.00.

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
