Purpose [ Back to top ]

The US Lausanne Committee for World Evangelism, USA ("US Lausanne Committee") is a coalition of Christians representing over 70 denominations (with 200,000 local churches) and some 300 ministry organizations. The goal of the coalition is: to PRAY for, CARE for, and SHARE the Good News of Jesus Christ with every man, woman, and young person in the United States by the end of the year 2000.

Mission America is an outgrowth of the Lausanne Movement, and is a cooperative effort along with The AD2000 & Beyond Movement, plus scores of denominations, ministry networks, servant ministries and local churches. Mission America is a prayerful response of evangelical Christian leaders to a prompting of the Holy Spirit to cooperate and collaborate toward the efforts of united prayer, revival/spiritual awakening, evangelism, reconciliation and world outreach.

One of the major programs of Mission America is called Lighthouses. A Lighthouse is a gathering of 2 or more people in Jesus' name for the purpose of praying for, caring for and sharing Christ with their neighbors and others in their sphere of influence. While the primary focus of Lighthouses is to establish a presence in every neighborhood, a Lighthouse may also be established in a church, business, school group or other setting. The goal is to establish 3 million Lighthouses by the end of 1999.

Joshua Project 2000 is the GLOBAL thrust of Mission America, which itself is the "national initiative" within the U.S. of the worldwide AD 2000 & Beyond Movement. Mission America's national evangelism initiative Celebrate Jesus 2000 seeks to mobilize the church to pray for and share Christ with every person in America by year-end 2000. With Celebrate Jesus 2000 as the effort to re-evangelize all the people of the United States, Joshua Project 2000 is the parallel effort to plant the church in all the major unreached people groups of the world. Financial support for Mission America comes from a variety of sources including foundations, major donors, denominations, churches and supporting ministries.

This organization is a nonprofit, contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
