Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

Life Outreach uses the following to express its statement of faith:

    Section 1. Policy:
The government of this Church shall be theocratic, recognizing that Jesus Christ is the Lord, head of the Body of Christ and that he has vested the authority to direct the affairs of the Church in the person of the Pastor, being assisted by the Board of Trustees and Staff. The Pastor shall be recognized by the members and all concerned as the leader under Christ of this local body. This Church maintains its inherent rights to sovereignty in the conduct of church life in accordance with the Articles of Incorporation, and voluntarily enters into a cooperative fellowship with the Body of Christ.

    Section 2. Doctrine:
This Church accepts the Holy Bible as its authority in matters of faith and practice. The following constitute the Church's Tenets of Faith:

    We Believe:
THE SCRIPTURES - The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.

THE GODHEAD - Our God is one, but manifested in three persons - the Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, being co-equal (Phil. 2:6). God the Father is greater than all; the sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begetter (John 14:28; John 16:28; John 1:14). The Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1, John 1:18, John 1:14). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal (John 15:26).

THE CHRIST - Jesus is the Christ, conceived by the Holy Spirit and Virgin born, the Son of God, the one and only savior, the Lord of all.

ATONEMENT - Christ sacrificially died on the Cross and shed His blood as the atonement for sin.

ASCENSION - God raised Him from the dead bodily; He ascended into Heaven, and he will visibly return in glory according to His promise.

SALVATION - Salvation is God's gift of eternal life, presented to all who, by faith, accept Jesus Christ as Savior and receive spiritual new birth by the Holy Spirit.

ABUNDANCE - Abundant Christian Living is possible only for those who continually yield their lives to the power and control of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

THE GREAT COMMISSION - Jesus issued Christians a "Great Commission": to spread the Good News of His salvation to all peoples and every nation. To fulfill this commission, Christians must not only proclaim the love of God, but demonstrate it through deeds of compassion, such as feeding the poor and hungry, providing for orphans and the homeless and assisting the sick and distressed as God directs.

History [ Back to top ]

LIFE Outreach International grew out of James Robison's personal ministry, which began in 1963 as the James Robison Evangelistic Association. Through citywide crusades across the U.S., the ministry grew rapidly through the Sixties and Seventies, touching and changing the lives of millions of people. There have been over 600 citywide crusades held. In 1967 the ministry moved its headquarters from Houston, Texas where it began to the Fort Worth-Dallas Mid-Cities area. The television minstry began in 1972, its coverage spreading across the U.S. and Canada within the next two decades. In1986, the ministry began supporting economic restoration and humanitarian activities abroad. Great emphassis was placed on endeavors of this type beginning in 1990, with support going to missions and crisis relief projects in 20 countries. To present an image in keeping with broadened emphasis--and to focus attention on Christ, rather than a man--the ministry changed its name to LIFE Outreach International in late 1992.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
