Summary
Liebenzell Mission of USA, Inc. ("LM") has accepted the mandate that Jesus Christ gave His Church to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything He commanded (Matthew 28:18-20). LM carries out this mandate among many nations and tribes who, although they have their own religious philosophies, lack the assurance of Truth in their lives. By contrast, Jesus Christ grants forgiveness. In the last 30 years, Liebenzell has entered new fields of service in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Today there are over 250 Liebenzell missionaries serving worldwide. Rev. Heinrich Coerper founded the organization in 1899.
The Liebenzell Retreat Center and Liebenzell Guest House are ministries of Liebenzell Mission USA. This organization is a nonprofit. Contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]
Liebenzell Mission of USA, Inc.'s Statement of Faith is:
...that the whole Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the divine authority and infallible rule for faith, life and doctrine.
...in one God, eternally existing in three Divine Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in nature, power and glory.
...in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, His miracles, in His shed blood as the only atonement for sin, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.
...in the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, testifies of Christ, enables the believer to live a victorious life, and guides into all truth.
...that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is in need of regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ.
...in the bodily resurrection. The believer shall arise to the resurrection of life and the unbeliever to the resurrection of judgment.
...in the Spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
...in the commission of the Risen Christ, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20
In the late 1800's, the famous missionary Dr. Hudson Taylor traveled extensively throughout Europe, garnering support for the work of the China Inland Mission. In Germany, news of this work excited Rev. Heinrich Coerper and in 1899, he founded the German Branch of the China Inland Mission. The little society grew quickly, sending out its first missionary to Hunan province within a year. In 1906, the mission found a permanent home in a rented building in the Black Forest town of Bad Liebenzell - thus becoming Liebenzell Mission. The work grew rapidly and spread to other fields in Asia and the Pacific: Papua New Guinea, Manus, Palau, Guam, Micronesia and Japan.
By the 1930's, over 80 missionaries were involved in full-time work overseas. The outbreak of World War II disrupted the mission work as missionaries were expelled, imprisoned or killed. In 1941, a small group of faithful Liebenzell supporters in the U.S. collected enough money to purchase an old "grand house" on top of Schooley's Mountain in northwestern New Jersey. As displaced missionaries arrived here to seek refuge from the war, they named it "Eben-ezer" - "the Lord is faithful." From this beginning, Liebenzell Mission USA was born, dedicated to the same goal of "the Gospel for the whole world!" The first U.S. missionary went to Manus Island, Papua New Guinea in 1951 and others soon followed. When all missionaries were forced to leave China in the early 1950's, Liebenzell's work in Asia expanded to Taiwan.
In the last 30 years, Liebenzell has entered new fields of service in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. Today there are over 250 Liebenzell missionaries serving worldwide.
LM has grown too, purchasing a former Youth Camp in 1980 to begin the ministry of hospitality. Ministry to internationals living in the U.S. was also begun the New York and Los Angeles metro areas.
Today, the staff of Liebenzell is honored to share with you "the mountaintop experience" at the Retreat Center and Guest House, a legacy of God's faithfulness.
