Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]
This profile needs a statement of faith
Kingsway Charities, has it's origin closely tied to the successful King Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a contract manufacturer of prescription brand name pharmaceuticals. King Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was founded in 1993 by the Gregory family. They in turn founded King Pharmaceuticals Benevolent Fund, also in 1994. King Pharmaceuticals, and more specifically the Gregory family has been very generous. One of their outlets for generosity has been with and through Kingsway Charities.
Kingsway Charities has the following needs:
- Product donations
- Volunteer support
- Financial donations
Kingsway Charities is experienced with receiving, tracking and distributing medications, including short-dated medications and other medical supplies. They provide transportation from the donor’s storage facility to the Kingsway Charities warehouse. Their quick turn-around time enables them to process short-dated medications in a timely manner, to avoid out-of-date supplies, and to remove donations from the donor’s storage facilities to free warehousing space eliminating extra cost to the donor.
KC is unique in that they maintain a level of personal involvement throughout the donation process with the donor, as well as with the recipients that request assistance. Kingsway Charities is committed to being sensitive to the donor's needs, to be expedient in moving the donor’s product and to be discriminating in the results. Kingsway Charities is able to utilize short-dated medications, help provide the transportation and have adequate warehousing and refrigeration.

2011 MinistryWatch.com Shining Light top ministry list2010 MinistryWatch.com Shining Light top ministry list2009 MinistryWatch.com Shining Light top ministry list
Kingsway Charities listed by MinistryWatch.com as a 2011 Shining Light ‘Top 30’ Exemplary Ministry.
This ministry is called a ‘Shining Light’ because it is indeed a model of letting their light shine before men, and God is to be glorified in what they are doing. Consequently, we are shining a figurative light on them so that donors may be aware of their good deeds.
Believers are recognizable by their fruit, which includes the services they perform for Him and for others. We see a glimpse of His light and glory in this ministry and if you do too, you should feel very good about giving to it; however, only you can decide for yourself with confidence if a ministry shares your values and with your giving plan.
Inclusion as a Shining Light does not mean it is perfect. No ministry is perfect and any that look long and hard enough may find areas for improvement; as no doubt most legitimate ministries are aware of areas to improve and have their own to-do list for improvement. As far as MinistryWatch.com’s assessment, given the criteria that we followed, this ministry rose among the top.
Identifying a diversity of the best ministries is challenging given the selfless work that so many do for the cause of Christ. MinistryWatch.com’s assessment looked at the following seven areas when considering those to make the list: (1) Transparency, (2) Truth Claims, (3) Values/ Worldview, (4) Sectors/Functions, (5) Resourcefulness, (6) Red Flag Issues, (7) Counsel with others.
A fuller explanation of our evaluation criteria is on the front page of MinistryWatch.com. As is evident, we looked at many factors and as such, a high Financial Efficiency Rating was not a requirement of inclusion on this list, although most do have good ratings. Many factors were reviewed and strengths in other areas can offset weakness in financial efficiency when determining whether a ministry should be of interest to donors seeking to be good stewards of their giving. A foundational premise was to shine a figurative light on those ministries that were "Christian" more than in name only. Ministries were chosen that were not just marketing to Christians as a market segment for "Christian donor money", but ministries that had theological underpinnings and Biblical values that determined their actions. Organizations that relied more on a secular motivation and means were excluded as well as those “ministries” that seem to view the organization as their own vehicle as a business to make money rather than a love to maximize ministry to others and to let their light shine for the glory of God.
MinistryWatch.com desires to see overall giving to Biblical Christian values increase and as such we developed this format to highlight those ministries which are exemplary. This ministry is an outstanding example when we consider it through the lens of Philippians 4:8 and weigh and take account of those ministries that are excellent and worthy of praise.

MinistryWatch.com’s Take
Compassion at Home & Abroad
Kingsway Charities, Inc (KC) is a Christian humanitarian organization helping those that cannot help themselves. They adhere to biblical principles in caring for those in need. They do so by looking at those in their own community, region and then the world. KC has a special heart for those that need medical supplies and attention.
Kingsway Charities delivers medical supplies and other health care related products to needy communities and families in underprivileged foreign countries. Most of the contributions received consist of medical supplies, including eyeglasses, surgical supplies, topical ointments, internal medications, and other pharmaceutical products.
KC is an organization created in 1994 by the Gregory family, who were also instrumental in the success of King Pharmaceuticals.
Even though the organization is fairly young, it has been growing by leaps and bounds. MinistryWatch.com has it listed as the eighth largest ministry in its database by total revenue. Even though it is very large in terms of total revenue, cash contributions are a precious commodity and very much needed as more than 99% of the revenue is in the form of medical supplies. It takes more than a repository of non-cash contributions to run a full-time ministry that never stops. KC can use every dollar it receives for active ministry. And it does maximize donor dollars as witnessed by receiving MinistryWatch.com’s top 5 Star Financial Efficiency Rating. KC is an impressive rising star ministry that all Christians and non-Christians alike should consider supporting.
International Medical Ministry
KC focuses its attention on International Medical Ministry. Helping the poorest of the peoples all over the world. In America, pharmaceutical products expire in warehouses and unused medical supplies are thrown into incinerators. KC is doing its part to collect these useful medicines and send them in Jesus’ name so that lives and souls may be saved. Medications from King Pharmaceuticals have a printed label that reads: "This medicine is freely given in the name of Jesus Christ, King of Kings." KC can receive pharmaceutical products with short expiration dates and quickly get them into the hands of medical missionaries. Their current inventory contains over 1000 different items. These items include prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals such as amoxicillin, multi-vitamin tablet, triple antibiotic ointment, xylocain, hydrocortisone, acetaminophen, and guiafesesin DM cough syrup as well as some non-pharmaceutical products such as diaper rash ointment, sunscreen, bandages, exam and surgical gloves, and gauze pads. In 2005, International Medical Ministry served 88 countries, 1,078 medical mission trips, directly helped 760,456 people, provided ministry value of $225,970,697, and recorded 210,816 salvations reported.
Volunteers Pave the Way
The progress of the various components of KC can be thankful to God for sending 370 different volunteers in 2008, that gave 22,344 hours of time.
KC is truly holding fast to biblical principles in caring for people. They have particular compassion for those that need medical supplies and assistance. KC is serving those who cannot support themselves.
