Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

The Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society uses the following to communicate its faith:

That the Bible is God's Word, written by men divinely and uniquely inspired by the Holy Spirit, and that it is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

In one God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In Jesus Christ, the world's only Saviour; in His pre-existence, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial, bodily resurrection and personal return.

In the Holy Spirit as a Person, indwelling and empowering the believer, convicting the unsaved, and presenting the claims of Christ.

That sinful man is lost and can be redeemed only by the death and shed blood of Christ upon the cross through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.

In the resurrection of the dead, the believer to life everlasting and the unbeliever to eternal condemnation.

That the Church, the Body Christ, is comprised of all who have accepted the redemption provided by Christ.

History [ Back to top ]

After World Was II, in May of 1950, a group of ministers met and prayed at Mount Hermon. They had a dream to rebuild their churches, evangelize their communities, and send the gospel of Christ back to Japan through the sending of missionaries. The result of their efforts was JEMS - the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society.

Today, forty-plus years later, God has honored that dream and more. JEMS involves most Asian nationalities through its ministries with local churches, on college campuses, through conferences and retreats, and with many other programs and ministries. JEMS’ overseas gospel missions have also expanded with the development of many programs and the inclusion of South America as a mission field.

Ministry Needs [ Back to top ]

JEMS is supported by an interdenominational network of Japanese and Asian American churches and especially by individual supporters.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
