Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

International Cooperating Ministries (ICM) uses the following to express its Statement of Faith:

We believe in one eternal God, Creator and Lord of the world, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who governs all things according to the purpose of His will.

We believe in Jesus Christ, God's Son, who is Savior and Lord, and who gave Himself as a ransom for sinners through His death on the cross. He rose from the dead and ascended to heaven, where, as truly God and truly man, Jesus is the only mediator between God and humankind.

We believe that all people are lost sinners and cannot see the Kingdom of God except through new birth. Justification is by grace through faith in Christ alone.

We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, the very Spirit of God, sent to bear witness of the Son. We believe in the work of God's Spirit for the individual's new birth and growth, and for the Church's constant renewal in truth, wisdom, faith, holiness, love, power, and mission.

We believe the Old and New Testament Scriptures to be the only inspired, written Word of God, infallible and without error, our guide for faith and practice.

We believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic Church. The Church's calling is to worship and witness for Jesus Christ, who is the Head, preaching the Gospel among all nations and demonstrating its commitment by compassionate service to the needs of all people.

We believe that Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in power and glory to consummate His salvation and His judgment. God will fully manifest His Kingdom when He establishes a new heaven and a new earth in which He is glorified forever and ever.

ICM subscribes to the Lausanne Covenant.

History [ Back to top ]

Twenty-four years ago, International Cooperating Ministries (ICM) began, broadcasting the Bible teaching of Pastor Dick Woodward in Spanish. Now these teachings are translated into 26 different languages, around the world and with a potential listening audience of over 4 billion people!

As a result of these broadcasts, groups of people began to gather together and formed small congregations. After seeing this growth, ICM realized the need for a structure for these congregations and that is how the ministry began the church building program it has today. To date, with the help of committed brothers and sisters in the countries where ICM works, they have over 3,500 churches built or under construction. ICM's goal is to provide 525 more churches by the end of 2010. With an average church attendance of 200 people, ICM anticipates over 700,000 people worshipping on any given Sunday in ICM-built churches within just a few years. The need is out there and ICM believes God has called them to meet their portion of that need.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

Since the founding of ICM in 1990, we have continuously looked for ways to leverage our donor’s funds. Our large international base of volunteer partners is one example of how we stretch each dollar. By not having paid employees in the field, ICM is able to channel more of its resources into programs. Additionally, our founder’s organization, The Rosser Family Foundation (a pure public 501 © (3)), donates funds to cover all general administrative expenses. Accordingly, 100% of donor designated funds go to the designation of their choice.

Regarding the Ministry Watch Financial Snapshot of ICM, we would like to respond as follows:

ICM received a below average rating in Fund Acquisition for 2002. In 2003, however, we decreased our fundraising cost ratio from 15% to 12%; and at the same time, increased contributions by 49% and assets by only 9%. Also, additional steps are being taken during 2004 to decrease this percentage even further.

ICM also received a below average rating for Asset Utilization for 2002 based on its holding approximately $3.46 million of its assets in mutual fund investments. We would like to point out, however, that these investments are made up of restricted donations to ICM, given for the purpose of setting up an endowment to generate income for the Mini Bible College program. Due to the restricted designation of these funds, and the structure of the endowment, ICM’s management only has the use of this principal through Board authorization. Also, as indicated by Ministry Watch in the Financial Snapshot, these investments are bought and sold frequently. While this is true, we are blessed to have a financial analyst that charges our ministry no fees and has done a wonderful job of managing our assets.

Additionally, net assets for 2003 increased by $712,000 as compared to a reduction in 2002 of approximately $766,000 in net assets. Also, strong year-end giving in 2003 enabled ICM to operate at an even pace during 2004 and increase program services by 23% over the previous year as of June 30, 2004.
