Mission Statement [ Back to top ]

Helps International Ministries expresses its mission as follows:

To strengthen and equip evangelical Christian ministries in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ - worldwide - by providing various "helps" as found in 1 Corinthians 12:28, thus standing alongside our brethren in encouragement and burden sharing (Galatians 6).

Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]

Some of Helps International Ministries' major programs are as follows:

The Computer Ministry originally offered a Fund Accounting software package and consulting services to other Missionary Organizations. Afterward, they added a bulk mailing software package and CASS certification service. They are currently expanding into new areas and are providing hardware, software, network, and web services.

The Planning and Design Ministry is committed to helping evangelical ministries by providing professional design services at a reduced cost and with a clear understanding of the challenges that evangelical organizations encounter when creating new or expanding ministries. The Planning & Design ministry examines typical spatial needs and cost constraints during the planning process and responds to the ministry’s vision and goals by sharing a common evangelistic purpose with the clients it serves.

Services provided include master planning and site development, building design, engineering, and consulting. Examples of completed projects are Scott Theological College - Nairobi, Kenya, TEAM Training Center - Northern India, Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf – Jamaica, Christian Memorial Hospital – Bangladesh, AEF Ministries Headquarters - Fort Mill, SC, and SEND International Headquarters - Farmington, MI. They provided design fees at 80 - 100% less than normal market cost. HIM has full-time or volunteer service opportunities for draftsmen, intern architects, registered architects, and engineers

The HIM Accounting Ministry’s purpose is to provide small missions with accounting support, to substantially reduce their costs, and to help them properly track and report their financial status. HIM has assisted over 30 mission organizations in the past 15 years by providing low cost accounting software and technical assistance. This software was developed with the small mission in mind. HIM has also assisted many small missions by conducting audits.

The goals of this ministry are to provide accounting software that is tailored for the small mission ministry, to provide technical support for the software, to be a resource for small office accounting and bookkeeping assistance, and to set up a network of CPA’s that will provide low cost audits for small mission ministries.

HIM has service opportunities for accountants and bookkeepers with Quickbooks experience, professional office staff who are willing to lend their expertise to small missions ministries, CPA’s with non-profit audit experience to perform audits, and software developers to assist in upgrading accounting software.

HIM’s Leadership Training, Ministry Evaluation, and Missions Mobilization programs provide short-term lecturers and teachers for overseas Bible colleges and Seminars - from 2 weeks to six months. HIM teaches and trains national pastors in the development of ministries by providing encouragement, Bible, evangelism, and leadership training. HIM works with groups of pastors and lay ministers, Bible Colleges, and Seminaries. HIM assists ministries in the U.S. and abroad with internal evaluations of leadership, staff, ministry effectiveness, and goals and objectives. HIM helps churches in the United States develop missions by assisting with conferences, developing programs and strategies, and assisting churches to strengthen their vision for fulfilling the Great Commission.

Living Free Ministries aspires to help people discover freedom and victory over strongholds, temptations, and abuse through faith in Christ. It encourages individuals, missionaries, and churches to examine their patterns and practices in light of God’s Word, to repent of sin, and to renew their commitments to put Christ at the center of their ministries. Its activities include: leading individuals and groups through Steps to Freedom in Christ, training Christian counselors, missionaries, pastors, and lay people, offering “Breaking Through to Spiritual Maturity” discipleship class, and equipping individuals and churches with the resources they need. They have many opportunities for discipleship leaders and counselors.

Vision: “We believe many Christians want to mature in their walk with Christ but are unable to because of personal or spiritual conflicts. The good news is that Jesus Christ has given every believer the authority to assume his or her position in Christ. We believe many Christians want to mature in their walk with Christ but are unable to because of personal or spiritual conflicts. The good news is that Jesus Christ has given every believer the authority to assume his or her position in Christ.”

The purpose of Servants Missionary Service (“SMS”) is to provide physical support for missionaries and other Christian organizations, throughout the world, whose primary purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission. The staff of SMS has accepted the challenge and responsibility of publishing and mailing the prayer letters of as many missionaries as the Lord sends to us. At the present time SMS serves approximately 250 missionaries.

Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

HIM uses the following to express its doctrinal statement:

We believe the Holy Scriptures, consisting of Old and New Testaments, were originally given by God, divinely inspired, without error, infallible, and are entirely trustworthy and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, God manifested in the flesh, His virgin birth, sinless life, divine miracles, vicarious and atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension and exaltation, and His personal, imminent and visible return in power and glory.

We believe that Adam and Eve, created in the image of God, were tempted by Satan, the god of this world, and fell; that their sin has passed to all people, who as a result are lost, and are unable to save themselves from the wrath of God, and need to be saved.

We believe that salvation is a gift of God to those who repent and personally believe in Jesus Christ; that it is accomplished by God's grace through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and regeneration by the Holy Spirit.

We believe in God the Holy Spirit who indwells all believers enabling them to live holy lives, and to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ despite opposition from the world, the flesh, and Satan.

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers, the church, as the Body of Christ and in the resurrection of eternal life with God, but they that are lost are condemned unto the resurrection of eternal separation from God.

We believe that Christ commanded the Church to go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching those who believe to obey all that Christ commanded.

POSITION ON CHARISMATIC MOVEMENT Helps International Ministries is a non-charismatic movement, and does not believe that speaking in tongues or the exercising of other lesser gifts (I Corinthians 12:28b) form the indispensable evidence of the gift of the Holy Spirit. We do, however, appreciate the sincerity and Christian character of many within this movement.

History [ Back to top ]

Since 1976, Helps International Ministries has provided "helps" ministry to well over 100 organizations worldwide. HIM originally provided construction services to other ministries. During the early years, architectural design, computer ministry, accounting ministry, and other technical ministries were added.

In 1995, Helps International Ministries’ board of Directors began to reevaluate the biblical meaning of "helps" as presented by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 12:28. After prayerfully seeking the Lord’s direction, it was decided to broaden the scope of HIM’s ministry and HIM’s governing documents were changed to include Christian counseling, teaching and training, church planting, and other ministries deemed appropriate by the Board.

Since that time, the Lord has provided a new International office facility and additional qualified staff to serve in both existing and new areas of ministry. HIM’s international opportunities have also expanded into Europe, India, Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Middle East.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
