Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]
Faith in the Family uses the following to express its Doctrinal Beliefs:
The FFI Board of Directors has unanimously adopted the following statement as the doctrinal basis for all organizational operations and activities. All members of the Board of Directors and Staff are required to subscribe to this statement annually:
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is accomplished by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone, by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.
History - The First Decade (1991-2000)
Rev. Marty Granger founded the original program of Faith in the Family under the umbrella organization of National Foundation, Inc. on January 1, 1991. After twenty years in youth ministry as a staff member with Youth for Christ/USA, he sensed a calling to broaden his ministry influence to include outreach to include an adult population. During the years 1991-1993, Marty spoke and taught on family issues, and was also asked to assist other Christian organizations such as the National Center for Fathering, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth for Christ/USA, and True Love Waits in facilitating major events and activities in Washington, D.C. Marty also hosted a live, one-hour call-in talk show for teenagers called TALK! About Teens on WAVA 105.1 FM from October 1992-March 1993. In December 1993 Faith in the Family withdrew from National Foundation, Inc. and organized as a charitable trust. From 1994 to 1996, the ministry was involved with two major outreach programs - Sports Outreach America/Washington, an evangelistic crusade in Washington, DC in conjunction with the World Cup of Soccer, and Promise Keepers, an outreach to men. In the spring of 1996, Faith in the Family chose to expand its own organizational outreach and thus launched its Affiliate Ministry Program, a deliberate decision designed to multiply its ministry effectiveness by adopting ministry programs under the Faith in the Family umbrella. In the spring of 2000, after undergoing a complete organizational and operational audit, it was decided that in order to eliminate confusion over operating as a charitable trust that the ministry would reorganize again as Faith in the Family International, a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3), Virginia non-profit corporation. Entering the 21st century, FFI is the parent organization for multiple ministry programs and sees a bright future of serving the Lord, the church and the family.

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
