Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]
EQUIP exists to see effective Christian leaders fulfill the Great Commission in every nation. Therefore, they have launched the Million Leaders Mandate. This exciting initiative will enable EQUIP to train one million church leaders, worldwide, in basic leadership skills. This army of effective leaders will provide visionary leadership to local churches and national organizations, while training other national leaders throughout the world.
Goal: To provide one million international Church leaders with basic leadership training.
Time: The goal of one million trained leaders should be reached by 2008.
Resources: The Million Leaders Mandate offers the following leadership resources to church leaders on every continent:
- Conferences: multiple training events with live instructors
- Conference Notebooks: Six core training notebooks
- Leadership curriculum on DVD
- Leadership tools via the Internet
Training Strategy: The program will be launched continent-by-continent in successive years starting January 2003. EQUIP staff, pastors and Christian business leaders are training 40,000 certified trainers in key nations, who in turn will train 25 other leaders each. Totaling an exponential amount of one million leaders trained.
The initiative features a three-year leadership training strategy for national pastors and other church leaders. Each region of a selected country is assigned a training team that returns every six months to provide instruction. This model encourages lasting relationships, stability and accountability in each nation.
Partnership Opportunity: A gift of $15 will provide the resources necessary to train one pastor for a full three years! A gift of $15,000 will provide training and resources for 1,000 leaders!
Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

John Maxwell's years in local church ministry allowed him many occasions to visit missionaries and national Christian leaders around the world. John would return from those overseas trips grateful to God for these leaders and their passion for the gospel; but also frustrated - because he saw that so many of them had never had the opportunity, while in ministry service, to develop their leadership skills.
It was during a missions related trip in the mid 1990's that John was encouraged by an international Christian leader to take the best of his leadership materials (that he'd been teaching for years in North America) and format it to fit a global audience. From that challenge and the affirmation of others, John launched EQUIP as a non-profit global mission ministry, in 1996.
It's John Maxwell's conviction that if the Church ever hopes to impact the next generation for Christ - and generations to come, there must be a return to the strategy of Jesus - that is, develop leaders. John often states that the purpose of Jesus coming to earth was to seek and save the lost. His public ministry lasted only three and a half years. During that time, He did not preach crusades across Asia, nor did He heal everyone he met. What He did with the greatest amount of His time was to train twelve leaders to impact the world over the next generation.
John's vision for EQUIP is that it be continually committed to developing leaders whose potential is great but opportunities for learning leadership have been limited. He is absolutely convinced that if Christian leaders around the world are trained, resourced, and encouraged, there is no limit to what can be accomplished in fulfilling the Great Commission!

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
