Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]
Teacher Program:
- ERRC has placed Christian teachers and experts in various fields to match their training and experience since '86.
- They negotiate individualized contracts for its field partners.
- They have developed long-term relationships with 40 key universities in eight major cities in China.
- ERRC provides pastoral care and is concerned with the spiritual growth of each field partner.
- ERRC provides orientation training and cross-cultural counseling for smooth adjustment to China.
- They provide continuous support services to teachers and encourage a close relationship with the home office.
- They promote a caring community among its field partners even when geographically separated.
- ERRC mentors field partners in the development of an in-depth understanding of China and fosters long-term commitments.
China Academic Consortium:
- CAC links Western teachers and lecturers to religious studies departments of Chinese universities. CAC also invites Chinese faculty to educational institutions in the United States and Canada for their own scholarship development and enrichment.
- CAC provides books to religious studies programs in China for use by students and faculty.
- CAC organizes and sponsors international conferences focused on comparative values and ethics studies.
- While many Chinese publishers have published books related to Christianity, the limited number of printed copies of these books, along with their limited distribution, makes it difficult for China's academic institutions and overseas research institutions to discover these rich resources. For this reason, CAC has undertaken the task of systematically collecting and summarizing these books. CAC will soon maintain an annotated bibliography of Chinese scholars' publications in China and post it on this web site.
Other Projects:
- ERRC organizes an annual Vision Trip, where participants can meet Field Partners and learn firsthand about their life and work as teachers in Chinese universities.
- ERRC coordinates Summer Cultural/Language Exchange Programs and a Youth English Camp in China. The program enables North American Christian college students to develop relationships with Chinese youth.
- In collaboration with Western Seminary of San Jose, ERRC offers a 30-hour course on “Ministry to Mainland Chinese.”

Educational Resources & Referrals - CHINA is a non-profit cross-cultural educational organization incorporated in April 1986, in Berkeley, California. The founding and present board includes both Americans and Chinese Americans. In June 1995, the Canadian branch of ERRC was founded. Because of the open and reform policies, foreign experts and teachers of English and many other subjects are in great demand in China. Each year since 1987, ERRC has placed American/Canadian experts and teachers in key universities in major cities throughout China to fill their requests. In 1994, ERRC received China's "Registration Certificate for Overseas Organizations Introducing Foreign Experts," issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts.
ERRC believes that the lifestyle, integrity, and professional excellence of its Field Partners can be an inspiration to the Chinese. ERRC expects its Field Partners to reflect the values of a Christian world view in a culturally relevant way through their profession, speech, and behavior. ERRC seeks to equip and prepare Christians in the West for a cross-cultural experience in China, and through this experience, to grow in character reflecting God's love.
ERRC gives it's ministry needs as the following:
This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
