Dave Dravecky's Outreach of Hope is a ministry which provides faith based resources to help meet the emotional and spiritual needs of suffering people, especially those who suffer from cancer or amputation.
The Outreach of Hope provides resources that offer guidance and encouragement to cancer patients, amputees and their families, and others dealing with serious illness. The Encourager magazine is the organization's primary resource for communicating encouragement and hope. It is sent free of charge to thousands of hurting individuals and their families, churches, cancer organizations and health professionals. Each issue, which comes out three times per year, deals with a theme directly relating to the struggles of those living with affliction. In addition, books, pamphlets and gifts are available to meet the unique needs of those who suffer, including resources for caregivers, children and support persons.
The Outreach of Hope also offers prayer support for those who suffer and their families through our intercessory prayer teams. Connecting people to God through prayer is at the heart of what the organization does and believes. Only God can meet the deepest needs of those who hurt.
In addition, Professional Support Materials are available for churches, health professionals, cancer support groups, and individuals who work with those who suffer, especially those who suffer from cancer, amputation, or serious illness. Resources range from a Cancer Support Group packet to Resource Library materials to Guidelines on Praying For Those Who Suffer.
Dave Dravecky has been speaking professionally for the past decade, delivering inspirational and motivational speeches to a wide variety of audiences across the country. Through his personal experience, he addresses loss and suffering, faith, encouragement and hope, reaching out to others, and saying goodbye to the past. Jan Dravecky also shares her story of walking alongside Dave, experiencing the heights and depths of joy and despair, faith and doubt, intimacy and aloneness during his battle with cancer and the subsequent amputation of his pitching arm. While in the midst of their journey, Jan found herself fighting a crippling depression that refused to lift. She shares her own "comeback" story with honesty and candor, providing a glimpse of how Jan went from being a "woman in control" to a woman under God's control.
Dave Dravecky's Outreach of Hope uses the following to express its Mission Statement:
"Our mission is to serve suffering people, especially those with cancer and amputation, by offering resources for encourgement, comfort, and hope through a personal relationship Jesus Christ."

This profile needs a statement of faith
Dave and Jan Dravecky were first thrust into the public spotlight in the late 1980’s when Dave’s career took off as a major league baseball pitcher, a "southpaw" for the San Francisco Giants. Shortly after realizing his lifelong dream, Dave was diagnosed with a soft tissue cancer in the deltoid muscle of his pitching arm. The next years were a whirlwind of surgery, radiation, pain and depression, all in the glaring light of the media. Eventually, Dave’s arm was amputated to stop the spread of the cancer and save his life. Through it all, Dave and Jan’s faith in God and the love He gave them through others provided the anchor they needed in the midst of their storm. Dave and Jan founded the Outreach of Hope in 1991 in response to the thousands of letters and requests they received from hurting people encouraged by the Dravecky’s faith. The overwhelming needs expressed in these heartfelt letters formed the basis of the ministry offered by the Outreach of Hope today.
