Summary

Bible Pathway is the world's most read through-the-Bible daily devotional/commentary, published monthly.

God has three basic reasons for providing us with a Bible: 1.) That we may know who the one true God is: the Father. . . . the Son. . . . and the Holy Spirit [Matthew 28:18-20; John 14:16-17; 16:13-15; I John 5:7].

2.) That we may know what God expects of us and how to be prepared for eternity: The Holy Scriptures (Old Testament) . . . are able to make you wise unto salvation. . . . All Scripture is . . . profitable . . . unto all good works [II Timothy 3:15-17].

3.) Our responsibility to provide this Good News to the world. Jesus said: Go . . . teach all nations . . . to observe all things [Matthew 28:19-20].

History [ Back to top ]

From all over the world, the heart of mankind cries out for spiritual food contained in the "Word of God." As they see the world around them collapsing through personal tragedies, and their hopes are swept away by a flood of despair ?- there remains as an anchor, the Bible, that has withstood the test of time. The "Rock of Ages" is the only sure foundation upon which a person can build his life. The solutions for life?s true problems cannot be found in scientific discoveries, in medicine, technology, or better government, but God the Creator of all things who provided a Guide to Life: The Holy Word of God. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works [II Timothy 3:16,17].

The great leaders of American history remind us of the values upon which our heritage was founded.
  • The 1st president of the United States, George Washington once said: It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.
  • Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President, said: The Bible is the cornerstone of our liberty.
  • John Quincy Adams, our 6th President, said: So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it, the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respectable members of society. I have for many years made it a practice to read through the Bible once a year.
  • Our 7th President, Andrew Jackson, said: The Bible is the rock on which our republic rests
  • And the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan has said: Throughout history, this one Book and the principles it contains has been the guide for righting the wrongs of mankind and giving hope for tomorrow. And today, from every spectrum of our society, true leaders continue to remind us of what made us the most powerful nation in the world.

It was with the same recognition of the vital importance of God?s Word that Dr. John Hash developed the BIBLE PATHWAY daily devotional/commentary, an easy-to-follow plan of systematically reading 15 minutes a day through the entire Bible in just one year. You will discover how each day's Bible reading helps us to understand our Creator, as well as our need to be guided by Him. Upon completion, you may then receive a beautiful Bible reading certificate of completion to commemorate this invaluable achievement. In each monthly issue of BIBLE PATHWAY you will find many special features that will enlighten your understanding of the Scriptures. An introduction is given to each book of the Bible to provide you with a biblical and historical perspective of God's plan of redemption for the human race. Difficult words need no longer be a discouragement because many Hebrew and Greek definitions are given. In addition to the many features of BIBLE PATHWAY, you?ll soon discover how interesting the Bible really is and how each day?s reading is relevant to our own daily life.

In 1973, Dr. and Mrs. Hash initiated this unique Bible reading program with only 1000 readers. Although it is nondenominational in content, it has the distinction of being endorsed by leaders in most major denominations and mission organizations in North America. It is freely given to university students, Bible Institutes and Seminaries, prison inmates, military servicemen, and international seamen. BIBLE PATHWAY MINISTRIES has provided Bibles, Bible Pathways, pastors libraries, study helps, clothing and other goods to more than 500 mission organizations, ministries, and churches in 65 countries.

In 1989, Dr. Hash envisioned a global awakening to the importance of Bible reading through a coalition of spiritual leaders and professionals of our day with THE INTERNATIONAL BIBLE READING ASSOCIATION. It has since been responsible for designating and proclaiming 1990 as THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF BIBLE READING signed by President George Bush. Also included that year was the proclamation passage as a joint resolution by both the House and Senate with the President?s signature. The momentum of this legislation continued on with the majority of Governors making this a proclamation for their individual states.

In 1990, Bible Reading Marathons were initiated; beginning first on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem and then on the steps of our nation?s capitol in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer. Through the INTERNATIONAL BIBLE READING ASSOCIATION, Bible Reading Marathons continue to emerge throughout the world equipping, mobilizing, and awakening the world to the importance of reading through the Bible. It is now into its 2nd decade.

The worldwide ministry of BIBLE PATHWAY is also teaching God?s Word within our own country, by means of AM and FM radio stations. Added to this, BIBLE PATHWAY is daily spanning the globe through international shortwave radio.

In 1983, BIBLE PATHWAY began its radio broadcasting through the shortwave transmitters of Trans World Radio to a potential audience of 80% of the world?s population. Today, from WORLD WIDE CHRISTIAN RADIO, with an effective radiated power of 2-1/2 million watts, BIBLE PATHWAY is transmitted from Nashville, Tennessee twice a day around the world. In addition, from the 5 powerful transmitters of WORLD HARVEST RADIO in South Bend, Indiana, Hawaii and Maine, our program is again carried around the world twice daily, with a combined effective radiated power of nearly 85 million watts.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
