Statement of Faith [ Back to top ]

Ambassadors for Christ International uses the following to communicate its Statement of Faith:

  1. We believe in the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments, as verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
  2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man.
  4. We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word and deed.
  5. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, in His present life there for us as High Priest and Advocate.
  7. We believe in "that blessed hope," the personal imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the rapture of the church.
  8. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
  9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, in the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

History [ Back to top ]

In 1948, a renowned Australia evangelist and a godly building contractor became deeply concerned about the need for biblical preaching and founded the Australian Institute of Evangelism to penetrate the unreached secular population in their country. Their burden was for revival in the churches and effective evangelism through the churches. Ten years later, the name was changed to Ambassadors for Christ.

As Australians Christians and believers from nearby countries trained with AFCI, the vision spread to other parts of the world. In 1964, Ian North was appointed Director for Ambassadors for Christ India. When an Indian citizen was appointed to that position in 1971, Ian moved to Atlanta, Georgia. When he became International Director in 1975, Atlanta became AFCI’s international headquarters. Allan Gardner has served as the International Director since May of 1991.

Now, almost fifty years since its humble beginnings, AFCI has become an international fellowship of believers on five continents committed to fulfilling the Great Commission across all cultural and linguistic boundaries. In 30 countries on 5 continents, AFCI is involved in planting national teams to minister to the churches and to reach the citizens of their countries with the message of revival and evangelism.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
