Summary

Accelerating International Missions Strategies ("AIMS") was formed in 1985 under the name of The Association of International Mission Services by a group of pastors and mission directors. They felt challenged to greater involvement in world evangelism. AIMS changed its name in May 1998 to Accelerating International Mission Strategies in an effort to better describe its mission and four objectives. First, they want to encounter God in worship and submission, seeking revelation of His purpose and His vision for contemporary servant ministry to the nations. Second, they want to equip the church for strategic cross-cultural ministry by providing seminars, overseas conferences and specific training materials. Third they want to encourage the church to adopt and evangelize the world's least reached peoples. And fourth, they want to engage the lost by building alliances of churches, agencies and individuals who will unite their resources in strategic ministry to specific regions and peoples. This organization is a nonprofit. Contributions to it are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. It is a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA).

Program Accomplishments [ Back to top ]

  • AIMS alliances are currently working in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America.
  • Equipping for the Harvest conferences train Christian leaders across the world to mobilize and send their own missionaries to plant churches among the world’s least reached people groups. AIMS’ trainers use cross-cultural curriculum that is translated into the language of the people they are training. Materials have been translated into Amharic (Ethiopia), Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindi (India), Indonesian, Korean, Mandarin (China), Russian, Spanish, Tamil (India and Sri Lanka), Telagu (India), Urdu (India).
  • In January 2004, AIMS introduced Global Encounter, a three-year program designed to build a relationship with the local church and to assist them in making a greater global impact. Global Encounter is designed to help churches and individuals hear from God and receive a fresh vision on how they can become more involved in the Great Commission, individually and corporately.
  • AIMS and New Life Fellowship have partnered to develop Mobile Medical Clinics, vans equipped with medical equipment and staffed by a physician and nurse. One Mobile Medical Clinic is already providing medical care to over one million people in the world’s largest slum in Mumbai, India.
  • AIMS has joined with Hindustan Bible Institute in Chennai, India to train pastors and church planters to establish more strategic church-planting movements among the unreached peoples of India. During the next fifteen years, AIMS will train 200,000 people to plant one million churches to effectively reach every tribe, language, and village in India.
  • The China VCD Project: Beginning in 2004, AIMS will train and equip 120 top house church leaders in one movement with a VCD (Video Compact Disk) containing teachings of core AIMS seminars in Mandarin Chinese. Each leader will use the VCD to train 10 house church pastors, missionaries and future house church leaders each month. As a result, up to 14,400 people will be trained in missions in one year.
  • The Ethiopian Project: AIMS will partner with agencies that offer humanitarian aid and disaster relief. Through this project, AIMS plans to train 1,200 pastors, missionaries and evangelists and raise up 240 missionaries to reach the Tigrai and Somali regions of Ethiopia. Humanitarian projects will include a Community Child Care Project, Mobile Medical Clinics, HIV training, food distribution, courses in agriculture, remote hospitals, new wells and schools, new businesses to support missionaries, and sanitation and nutrition training.
  • AIMS’ Compassion Aid Network connects health care workers, business professionals, individuals, and agencies that specialize in services such as providing emergency disaster relief, digging wells, donating medical equipment, translating the Bible, and providing evangelical films such as The Jesus Film. These ministries and individuals work in partnership with the local church, AIMS trainings, and each other to reach entire communities for Christ.
  • AIMS’ HIV/AIDS coordinator has formed networks and trained many caregivers in Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Africa. The first Ukrainian Christian HIV/AIDS Ministry Network will provide a day care and community center where HIV positive families can receive childcare, education, counseling and group support.
  • Statistics
    • An estimated 28.6 million people heard the Gospel, most for the first time.
    • More than 2.1 million people have accepted Christ.
    • 14,000 churches planted among unreached people groups.
    • 1.54 million Bibles distributed in regions closed to the Gospel.
    • More than 50,000 pieces of evangelistic literature distributed in China.
    • 11 training institutions established.
    • More than 600,000 church leaders and about 23,000 businessmen worldwide have been trained to engage in cross-cultural ministry and church planting.

History [ Back to top ]

Early in 1985, Dr. Foltz came into contact with a number of other church leaders in the Charismatic Renewal from across the United States. They shared a common mission burden and could see that Charismatic churches across America contained great-untapped resources for world evangelization. There was an expressed need for envisioning, mobilization, networking, and a focus on becoming more strategic. So, on the first day of spring in 1985, AIMS was born.

AIMS supplies mission related materials; conducts mission seminars, conferences, and consultations; promotes short-term missions trips; and works to network and mobilize churches and individuals, agencies and other missions related organizations, for the task of world evangelization.

Ministry Statement or Response [ Back to top ]

This organization has not offered MinistryWatch.com with an official statement or response for their profile. This area is meant as a mechanism for the profiled ministry to communicate anything they may choose. It is open ended as to the topic, issues, facts or news to address. It is not negative if there is no official statement as many don’t have anything to add than what is already on the profile. This section is not tied to transparency or to communication in general. Many very open and talkative ministries with us choose not to post an official statement. This section is just an open ended offering to the profiled ministry for anything extra to say as they may choose.
